2012 Dodge Caliber
Quick Quote
OVERVIEW
The 2012 Dodge Caliber is a compact four-door hatchback that has the capability to seat 5 adults. The vehicle is available in Express, Mainstreet, Uptown, Heat and Rush trim levels. The new Caliber is very spacious, fuel efficient and a value-for-money buy. The new 2011 Dodge Caliber has six new available exterior paint colors. You can also see a new navigation/audio system with Sirius Travel Link and standard electronic stability control on the Heat, Mainstreet, Rush and Uptown models.
EXTERIOR
The 2012 Caliber, with its crosshair grille, definitely carries the Dodge lineage. Even though the Caliber is a hatchback, it rides on fairly larger wheels. And if you have been tricked into believing the Caliber to have a lower, sleeker shape, it is because of the black rail that runs from the base of the A-pillars and along the roofline to the taillights. Standard and optional exterior features include 15-inch steel wheels with silver-painted wheel covers, body-colored front and rear bumpers, optional body-colored door handles.
The 2012 Dodge Caliber has also been treated with minor changes. Interior features include illuminated cupholder rings, standard cloth seats, optional upgraded cloth or leather-trimmed seats, standard manual door locks, mirrors and windows, standard manual door locks, mirrors and windows. Other comfort and convenient features include power mirrors, locks and windows, with speed-sensitive door locks, beverage-cooling bin, fold-flat front passenger seat, optional navigation/radio with Sirius Travel Link, and optional rechargeable flashlight that stows in cargo area.
ENGINE
The 2012 Dodge Caliber is available in two engine options: a 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine that churns out a maximum of 158-hp and 141 pounds-feet of torque, and a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces a top performance of 172-hp and 165 pounds-feet of torque. The standard 2.0-liter comes with a five-speed manual transmission. A continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) is standard on the Mainstreet and Uptown. The Heat and Rush are available with CVT with manually controlled simulated stepped gears.
The 2.0-liter engine delivers EPA estimates of 24 mpg city/32 mpg highway and 27 mpg combined with the manual transmission, and 23/27/24 mpg with the CVT. The 2.4-liter engine is equally good in the fuel efficiency department. It returns EPA ratings of 23 mpg city/29 mpg highway and 25 mpg combined for manual-transmission-equipped models, and 22/27/24 for versions fitted with the CVT.
SAFETY
The Dodge Caliber 2012 comes strapped with plenty of safety features. Standard safety features include airbags, active front head restraints and antilock brakes. Stability control is available as standard except on the Express trim. Other standard safety features include smart key engine immobilizer and antilock braking system.
