Dodge Nitro lineup was revised and renamed for the 2010 model year with fresh exterior and interior styling features. Available in Heat, Detonator and Shock along with the Heat 4.0 Lifestyle Package models, the five-passenger SUV Nitro offers more standard content and style, including 20-in. aluminum wheels, sunscreen glass and performance suspension paint. The 2010 Dodge Nitro select models are equipped with upgraded interiors with new cloth and leather with premium colored stitching. Detonator and Shock receive the tattoo of Dodge Brand's signature racing stripes. A new Dodge Nitro Heat 4.0 lifestyle package is new for 2011. The Dodge Nitro lineup is now available in nine exterior colors, including new for 2011 Bright White Clear Coat, Blackberry Pearl Coat, Toxic Orange Pearl Coat and Redline Two Coat Pearl.

The Detonator features 20-inch polished aluminum wheels, nine premium speakers with subwoofer, remote start and Parksense rear park assist system. The Nitro Heat 4.0 is equipped with standard Uconnect Phone and an upgraded eight-speaker sound system. The Shock comes equipped with the new polished 20-inch aluminum premium-painted wheels, heated leather seats and a sunroof. It also includes an intense, nine speaker including subwoofer audio system, remote start and Parksense rear park assist system. There are many new features like the front-row Active Head Restraints, air filtration system (both standard on all models), body-colored grille with bright billets, body-colored sills and front air dam (SXT model), six speakers (SE and SXT), power-heated manual folding mirrors (SE and SXT), available new leather seat trim (SXT model), standard body-colored grille with bright billets, body-colored sills and front air dam (SXT model), express-up front-passenger window (SXT model) and security alarm (SXT model). Power sun roof, leather seats, heated front seats, remote start, ParkSense rear-park assist, Uconnect Phone, eight premium speakers, subwoofer and 368-watt amplifier, and Uconnect Navigation are among the options.

A 3.7-liter V6 engine which produces 210 horsepower and 237 pound-feet of torque is standard on the Nitro. A four-speed automatic transmission is also standard. Rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive are available. The Nitro Detonator and Shock get power from a 4.0-liter V6 rated at 260 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque. A five-speed automatic is standard with this engine.

The standard safety and security features include Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Brake Assist, all-speed traction control, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Electronic-roll Mitigation (ERM), front-row active head restraints and front and side-curtain air bags.
